Allegheny-Clarion Valley School District Update: April 3, 2020
In light of the recent state-wide stay at home order and the indefinite closure of all K-12 Pennsylvania schools, Governor Wolf and his administration are doing their best to keep us safe. Although, the ACV staff and school board recognizes the impact that the COVID-19 pandemic and the closing of our school district has on our educational communities.
During his briefing the Governor elected not to provide specific details as to our return to school, but I am still hopeful that we will return to school this year. This closure has impacted not only our academic program, but also many extracurricular activities. As of right now, we are planning to reschedule prom when we do return to school. Graduation is still scheduled to be held on June 5, 2020, if we are not back to school at that time, we will be planning to reschedule graduation as well.
In the meantime, our school district has created a continuity of education plan that will focus on enrichment and review for students. We are cognizant in how this pandemic has affected our families, especially those of you who are first responders, medical personnel, and others who are considered essential employees. We also understand the enormous amount of stress and anxiety that our families are coping with at this time and we do not want to over burden you with more work.
Please keep in mind that the enrichment and review plan consists of informal activities that are intended to reinforce or extend studentsí prior learning. New material will not be addressed; enrichment and review activities are intended to keep students and families engaged with learning. To ensure success, all students in grades 7-12 are required to access your acvsd.org email to ensure that you will be able to communicate with your teachers. If you are having difficulties with accessing your email or need assistance, please call the Elementary school or the Jr/Sr high school early next week.
In closing, I want everyone to know that this closure is very difficult on all of our educators at the district; they wanted let our student know that they really miss seeing everyone. Please do your best to stay healthy.
