Allegheny-Clarion Valley School District District Update: March 27, 2020
Today, the governor signed Act 13 2020, which includes Senate Bill 751. This bill has many provisions in it notwithstanding; it waives the requirement for schools to be in session at least 180 days, provides for continuity of education plans, and waives standardized assessments. The Department of Education previously announced the cancellation of all assessments for the 2019-20 school year.
This bill requires an educational program for all Pennsylvania students during the closure. The administrative team at ACV is currently working on our plan. The planning began earlier this week with a call from Mr. Jordan, he and Mrs. Sherman will be taking the lead on our educational planning and will be the key contacts for our district. We will have more information about this plan out to you early next week after we develop the specific guidelines of the plan. This educational plan will consist of the use of technology and other alternative means that supports your family.
To aide in our success, we are asking that all ACV Teachers to contact your principal if you are having difficulty accessing your acvsd.org email from home.
For our AC Valley families and students who have suffered job loss, either temporarily or permanently, due to the Coronavirus Pandemic, we should reach out to Mrs. Austin. Mrs. Austin, who is our Homeless Liaison, is here to assist our families and students who are going through difficult times financially. If you or a family has already been working with Mrs. Austin during this school year, please feel free to also reach out to her as she would like to check on you and your family. Please contact her via email at firstname.lastname@example.org. Mrs. Austin may have information that can assist your family during these difficult times. All information is kept strictly confidential.

The nurses would like our community to know that they miss seeing our students and hope everyone is healthy and practicing social distancing. They have created the “Nurse's Corner” it is posted on our district web page and Facebook page to help our families during this pandemic. They are here to offer guidance to our students on health-related issues. They will respond to all health-related emails within 24 hours. You can also email them to say hello!! Although, if you are having an emergency, please call 911 and follow up with your doctor.
The email address is email@example.com. Take care, and stay healthy! Wash your hands, ACV! See you soon!!
In conclusion, we are planning to have all of our students return to school on April 9, but with the spread of this disease, we are planning one week at a time. Please stay healthy and do your best to stop the spread of this disease by washing your hands and staying home if you are sick.
